What says love more than giving your partner a gift for each love language that they speak? And if you aren’t quite sure what their dominant love language is…then you can just get them one for each!
While thought does matter, according to the theory behind love languages, thought actually means the most for only a small percent of us. So maybe it’s time to really hit the nail on the head and give your significant other a gift that they’ll never forget…something that they love so much they aren’t even sure why (but you are!).
So time to get shopping! Below are some great love language gift ideas that will hopefully take care of that for you. Good luck!

But First, What Are the Love Languages?
The concept of love languages is based around the belief that there are 5 main ways to show your love for someone, and we each crave one of those love languages more than the rest (we also tend to show love using a dominant love language as well…and it’s not always the same as the one we prefer to receive!).
So, what are the five love languages? They are as follows: words of affirmation, physical touch, gift giving, quality time, and acts of service.
It’s also important to note that while most people tend to have a dominant love language, you can definitely be drawn to more than one…or all of them!
Read below to find out more about each of your partner’s love languages and, more importantly, some great gift ideas that will really melt their heart.
Words of Affirmation Gifts
Words of affirmation gifts are perfect for significant others that love to hear (or read!) how you feel about them. Just saying “I love you” every morning can go a long way for these people. Gifts for significant others that are drawn to the words of affirmation love language are often naturally romantic, but they don’t necessarily require a huge budget.
Here are some really great gift ideas for the words of affirmation love language:
Engraved Jewelry or Watch. Jewelry without words is just jewelry, but when it’s engraved…it takes on a new life! This designer is one of my favorite jewelry makers – they engraved different pieces with YOUR OWN handwriting on it. This is definitely a one-of-a-kind words of affirmation gift!
Affirmation Socks. These affirmation socks are one of my favorite love language gift ideas and on top of being a really fun idea, they’re actually really comfortable! This is an especially great words of affirmation gift if you’re uncomfortable giving something too romantic or want to keep things fun and light.
Heartfelt Letter. It costs nothing and shouldn’t take you too much time…but this could be a gift they never forget. A heartfelt letter is as romantic as it gets and is the best possible way to shower your significant other with the words they crave hearing.
“Letters for” Gift Idea. The “Letter for…” gift idea is one of the coolest ideas for people who are drawn to the words of affirmation love language. What you do to pull this one off is to write a different letter for various occasions…and that is when your significant other can open them. Some common occasions are: when you’re feeling sad, when you miss me, when you need motivation, on our anniversary, when you’ve just accomplished something great. But don’t stop there! Go with whatever you can think of. The more, the merrier.
Physical Touch Gifts
You know your significant other’s love language is physical touch if they love to be hugged or kissed, hold hands, cuddle, or really any other forms of physical affection.
Gift ideas for this love language are really fun because they can be sensual and romantic or practical and fun…they’re generally great gifts for any significant other!
Here are some great physical touch gifts that will give them the sensation of physical affection even when you’re not there:
Vibration Bracelets. These vibration bracelets are such a brilliant idea for couples and perfect for a physical touch love language gift! They come as a set so that each of you can wear them and when one of you touches their bracelet, the other one will vibrate! What a fun (and physical!) way to tell your special person that you’re thinking about them.
Weighted Blanket. Weighted blankets are great gift ideas for the love language of physical touch because they basically generate the feeling of a hug…all night long! These blankets are the real deal too, not just a gimmick. And they’re a great gift idea if you don’t want to go over-the-top with romance or have a practical partner on your hands (who also loves sleep!).
Massage Love Coupon. Love coupons are always a romantic idea (for more on love coupons and ideas to get started, check out this post) and a massage love coupon is an amazing love language gift for physical touch. So how do you pull it off? Just get creative and create a real-life “coupon” for a massage that your significant other can hand in whenever they’re ready for a personal massage right from you!
Comfy Pajamas. Forget about sexy pajamas this year and instead surprise your significant other with really, truly comfy pajamas. People that love physical touch also love the sensation of comfortable materials, so this is a thoughtful and practical gift idea. If you need a brand that always makes comfy pjs, try BedHead Pajamas.
Bath Bombs. Bath bombs are another easy gift idea that is perfect for people that crave physical touch, especially if you’re putting together a basket of gifts or need something that is sensual and thoughtful, but not overly romantic.
Gift Giving Love Language Ideas
The love language of gift giving is for those that truly love to be spoiled! Flowers for no reason, a surprise bottle of wine, and over the top, perfectly thought out gifts for every special occasion.
So how do you excite a significant other whose dominant love language is gift giving?
You get creative, thoughtful, and splurge a little! Here are some fun gift ideas for the gift giving love language:
5 Senses Gift Idea. The 5 Senses Gift Idea is the perfect way to spoil someone who really loves gifts. What you do is give them 5 different gifts – 1 for each of the 5 senses (touch, sound, taste, sight, smell). This is a really thoughtful gift that is something they’ll also really enjoy.
Skylight Picture Frame. These magical picture frames are really thoughtful and a really cool gift idea. The digital picture frame is tied to an email address, so you can email a picture to it…and it will appear in real time! This is a lot of fun for couples that don’t live together or spend a lot of time away from each other.
A Gift for Each Love Language. The best love language gift is the one that covers them all! So put together a themed-gift basket that incorporates a gift for each of the 5 love languages (you can’t go wrong here!).
Quality Time Gift Ideas
The love language of quality time is evident when your husband, wife, boyfriend or girlfriend would much rather spend time with you than actually receive something. People who are drawn to this love language are excited by experiences, not gifts, and they want you right by their side as it happens.
If you know your significant other craves quality time, then here are some great love language gifts for them:
Table Topics. These little cards are such a fun way to get to know your partner way better than you already do! This is the perfect activity to spend true quality time together and something that can work on any budget.
Date Night Baskets. Date night baskets are such fun ideas and PERFECT for the quality time love language! Just plan out a date and give your significant other all of the components they need – restaurant gift certificate, movie tickets, tickets to a sporting event, jewelry or clothes to wear out (something nice for an upscale restaurant or a team jersey for a football game!).
Experiential Gifts. Experiential gifts are perfect for people who crave the quality time love language, so think outside the box and get tickets for a hot air balloon ride, skydiving, or a wine and cheese pairing class. Just make sure you choose something that you both do together – that is the key!
Travel Destinations. What better experience could there be than a surprise weekend getaway or dream vacation? If you have the time and budget to plan a surprise trip, then your quality-time-loving significant other will be as happy as can be!
Acts of Service Gift Ideas
People whose strongest love language is Acts of Service really appreciate thought…especially when it involves helping them in some way other than with a monetary gift. These gift ideas are similar to experiential gifts, except they don’t necessarily need to involve thrill or exploration…just doing something for the person you love.
Here are some fun gift ideas to impress a significant other that really appreciates acts of service:
Home Cooked Meal. Clean the house, have candles lit, and prepare a home cooked meal for your wife, husband, boyfriend, or girlfriend. This is such a classic thoughtful gift that involves romance and a special act of service.
Plan a Trip. Splurging to take your significant other on a weekend getaway is one thing, but actually planning the whole thing out is an entirely different thing…and definitely something that would top the list of act of service gift ideas.
Plan a Staycation. Just the same as planning a trip only, in some ways, this can be even better. Whether it’s planning out full-fledged dates, or just things to do for a day at home, taking care of the planning and preparation is a gift in-and-of itself!
Love Coupons. Love coupons are perfect ideas for people that love acts of service because you can personalize them to be things that you KNOW your significant other will truly love. Put an entire book together for them and don’t hold back – love coupons and acts of service go hand-in-hand!
Cleaning Service. If you’re looking for a gift for your wife or husband who loves acts of service, then a cleaning service – whether regular or one-time – could be a really amazing idea. Just make sure they won’t be offended by it! (but most would love it ;-))
I hope these love language gift ideas help you find the perfect gift for your special someone! Good luck with your shopping and enjoy whatever special occasion is ahead.
