Rainy day gift baskets are some of the funnest gifts to put together! Everybody loves to have a lazy day every once in a while and this is a fun way to make that day even more exciting, relaxing, and peaceful.
What I really love about these types of housewarming gift baskets is that they can really be used for ANY occasion. They’re great for birthdays and Christmases and they make amazing gifts for couples…because when isn’t a good time to make a home a happier, more relaxing place?
Which is exactly what this rainy day gift basket was used for. The intention was to fill it with things that would make for a really cozy morning and afternoon for one of those weekend days that you just don’t want to get out of bed (or can’t).
And it turned out really well!

What to Put in a Rainy Day Gift Basket
As I said before, this particular basket had the sole intention of being used for a lazy day – one of those rainy Saturdays where you don’t even want to get out of your pjs and you just binge-watch a great Netflix series.
Drink Sets
I started with a pair of DIY Hot Toddy glass sets that I’ve put together before (I LOVE this gift idea. Here’s how to put your own set together – Hot Toddy gift idea). The hot toddy set has everything you need to make your own hot toddies.
To add some variety, I also added an additional set of glasses, but instead of hot toddy ingredients, I put hot cocoa and mini Kahlua bottles (you could also use mini Godiva chocolate liquor bottles for real chocolate lovers!).
Alcohol – check!
Socks
Then, I added my favorite gift idea – socks! 🙂 Not only does everyone need socks (literally), but a really comfy pair is perfect for a lazy day AND can also be used on regular days, which makes it an even better idea. In this basket I used Bombas because they’re high quality and really popular these days.
Popcorn Bowl
It took me a while to figure out what to put all of these ideas in, so when I discovered this popcorn bowl, the whole thing came together! I added a bag of popcorn and voila! The lazy day basket was born.
Candle
Lastly, I added a woodwick scented candle, which is one of my favorite candles to gift (and use). The wick is made of wood, so it crackles like a fireplace! And the scents are really strong.
Some other Lazy Day Gift Ideas
There are so many fun directions you can take a lazy-themed gift, so obviously personalize yours as best you can.
Here are some other fun ideas that would go great in a Rainy Day basket:
- Face mask
- Bath bombs
- Coffee mugs
- Tea
- Deck of cards
- Weighted blanket (this is an expensive one, but if you want to splurge, THIS is it!)
- Chocolate or favorite candy
- Slippers
- Netflix gift card
- Pajamas
So there you have it! Everything you need to make your own rainy day housewarming gift basket, where every single piece can be used.
I hope you get to experience your own lazy day soon and hopefully this gift idea goes over well!
