The Best Birthday Party Gifts for Preschoolers

Who doesn’t love coming up with new birthday party gifts for preschoolers every single weekend of the school year?? While the interaction my kids get is wonderful – and I enjoy seeing other parents as well – it can be a lot to come up with different gifts for every child EVERY weekend!

Alas, there is an easy solution to this conundrum! You don’t need to regift or create any kind of spreadsheet.  You just need to have a few different go-to preschooler birthday gifts that work for both boys and girls and that aren’t too expensive – which is an important thing to remember!

You DON’T need to spend a ton of money.  A gift that they will actually have fun with will go a long way…and is certainly better than getting a lot of expensive stuff that may or may not be a huge hit.

So what are the best gender-neutral birthday presents for preschoolers?  Here’s a timeless list that won’t fail you!  Not only will these work for boys and girls, but a lot of them will last for years (which means they’re even better for families with siblings!).

Good luck on your shopping and have a ton of fun at the birthday party!

These gender-neutral birthday party gifts for preschoolers are the perfect ideas for boys or girls for the regular weekend parties that you'll be attending!

Brain Flakes

These Brain Flakes were a gift that we received for one of my children’s preschool birthday parties and it launched my pursuit to find more amazing gifts like this because my kids LOVE these things.

The little chips click together to build whatever you want and while it does come with a book of ideas, what is amazing about this gift is that your kids will start building their own things that will work for whatever their current interests are.

An extra bonus of this gift (kinda) was that my little one also loved to play with the chips just creating piles, dividing them by color, or putting them into different containers.

These are definitely a great preschool gift idea that will last for years (and it obviously doesn’t require batteries).

Sidewalk Paint

I’m a huge fan of outdoor toys and activities and also a huge fan of arts and crafts…so the discovery of this sidewalk paint was one of my most-excited moments!

This paint is really just chalk-based, so it’s not actually paint they’re using. BUT – it works like paint, which makes it so much more fun for them.

Let them go crazy on the driveway or sidewalk, and then just spray off with water when you don’t want to see it anymore (or wait for the rain).

I also love this as a preschool birthday party present because it’s technically a consumable gift, so once they’ve used it up, the parents can throw everything away…and it doesn’t need to cause clutter!

Paint-by-Sticker Books

These paint-by-sticker books were such an unbelievable discovery and my preschoolers just can’t get enough of them!

It’s the classic paint-by-numbers concept, only instead of painting, they are fitting a specific sticker to their corresponding number.  Once all the stickers are in place, they’ve completed their masterpiece.

One thing that I absolutely love about this gift is that it’s the perfect way to keep them distracted and happy while they’re alone…and they’re quiet!  So it makes for a great distraction and a calming preschool activity.

Splash Mat

This splash mat will create an unbelievable amount of fun outside and requires barely any space – just a hose and small plot of grass is all you need!

It’s part sprinkler, part slip and slide, part pool…but without any of the concerns that each bring.

Your preschooler can run through the spraying water or sit in the middle and play around in a few inches of water.

This preschool gift was used every single day for us!  It’s a great idea, especially for the summer months.

Candy Land

The age of board games is upon us!  Preschoolers are finally ready to understand basic rules and LOVE to play games and Candy Land is STILL a classic that will never get old.

This is something that is easy for them to play with each other, but also a quick and fun game to play with adults.

It’s a great way for them to learn a ton of lessons, from winning and losing, to taking turns and following rules.

This is a great classic that parents and kids will appreciate.

My First Science Kit

My First Science Kit is a great preschool birthday present idea that ticks all of the boxes you want!

It is educational (STEM is always a bonus!), fun for the kids, and since it’s intended for a specific number of experiments, it’s technically a consumable gift idea!

This is another party gift that we were given and proceeded to give others. The experiments are a lot of fun and my kids really enjoyed them.

Magnetiles

Magnetiles are an absolute must-have toy for all preschoolers and the best part is that you really can’t have too many.

These magnetic tiles work like blocks, but stick together because of their magnets, which makes it possible to make a ton of things that you couldn’t actually do with blocks.

These are great for a range of ages, perfect for more than one child to play with, but are also a great distraction for only children or quiet time.

This is one of my top suggestions for this age regardless of the occasion!  It’s a great gift idea for preschoolers.

Fort Kit

This fort kit may not buy you many parent points (or maybe it will!), but it will definitely buy you lots of points with the preschooler!

The kit is small and easy to store, BUT can be used to build a huge fort structure that the kids can then play in.

It’s easy enough for kids to put together and can be broken down way easier than reassembling all of your furniture! 😉

This is a really fun gift idea for preschoolers and can work for the summer or winter months!

Drawing Stylus

This drawing stylus is a GREAT birthday party gift idea for preschoolers.

To them, it feels like a technology device, which adds to the excitement and “big kid” feel.

But really, it’s just a great way to let them be creative and is perfect for quiet afternoons and my favorite – long car rides!

This is something that all kids should have and it works well for boys and girls.

Floor is Lava Pieces

These “floor is lava” pieces are so simple, yet so brilliant!  And this particular set is strong enough for even adults.

My kids have this set and play with it everyday outside.

It’s a great way to add imagination and fun to the outdoors and could be used indoors if you have the space.

I hope these preschool birthday party presents help make your shopping easier and your kids happy!  Enjoy this age. It really will fly by!
